At this point, it’s hilarious how many leaks the Nintendo Switch 2 has suffered from. Various accessory makers and insiders have shown off bits of the hardware, to the point that Nintendo lawyers reportedly confronted one manufacturer at CES. We all know it’s coming, and Nintendo themselves confirmed an announcement would happen before March 31st. Well, guess what, my friends, that announcement is coming in just a few days.

Well, that’s what several people and websites are saying, anyway. Insider Nate the Hate today released the latest episode of his podcast, and at the 18-minute mark had this to say: “I have been told the Switch 2 will be revealed on Thursday, January 16th.”

Nate goes on to say that he’s also heard some details about what will be in the reveal, but he considers them incomplete “because it just doesn’t make sense to me.”

Nate says that he’s heard the reveal will focus “almost exclusively on the console itself.” According to Nate, games will be almost nonexistent in the reveal, aside from maybe being shown running on the machine.

The Switch was revealed in the same way in 2016, with a hardware-focused trailer being released first. While games were shown running on the machine, such as Mario Odyssey, they were not officially revealed until later on.

Last week, Nate the Hate also claimed that titles like Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator are going to launch on PS5 and Switch 2.

Since Nate’s podcast, several other outlets and people have come forth to say they have heard the same things. The Verge has backed up Nate’s claims, and offered more details on exactly what’s going to happen: “We believe the likely sequence of events will be an announcement on January 15th, with the actual reveal taking place the following day, so you better clear up your schedules.”

Tom Warren from The Verge said something similiar on X: “in case it wasn’t obvious from my tease in Notepad last week, I’ve heard it should be the Switch 2 reveal this week”

Meanwhile, Eurogamer claims these whispers have been building all week and that Nate was simply the first to voice them: “Industry whispers Eurogamer has heard over the past week have coalesced around a reveal this Thursday, 16th January, with a focus on the much-leaked console itself, rather than a deep dive into its software line-up.”

VGC doesn’t seem able to corroborate Nate’s claims that the Switch 2 will be revealed this week, but do say that his speculation about a May-June release is what they have also heard.

It’s important to remember that we don’t know the exact source Nate and these other outlets have, meaning it could be a singular source sharing information with all of them, making it less reliable. Or it could be multiple sources saying the same thing, which would be far more compelling.

However, given the sheer amount of leaks surrounding the Switch 2 already and the closeness of the supposed announcement date, I feel like Nate’s information is probably accurate.

We will know for sure in just a few short days.
