Compared to the original, Spiders’ GreedFall 2: The Dying World launched into early access and opted for real-time-with-pause combat. The results were mixed (check out our review here), but more content and improvements are en route in the next update. Unfortunately, it won’t launch in Autumn as previously planned.

The team wants to “take the time to address your feedback and polish certain aspects of the game which were demanded by the community.” A new release date will be announced as soon as it’s able.

As for what the update offers, there’s a new region (Olima, the City of Stars) and a new companion with new skill trees to unlock. There’s also the Hub for gathering the party, the first series of companion quests, new regional quests, and main quest content. Spiders will also begin deploying combat improvements, namely improved animations and smoother gameplay, though it’s only the first step.

GreedFall 2: The Dying World is playable only on PC via Steam Early Access, but it’s also coming to Xbox Series X/S and PS5 next year.
