Team Asobi has announced that they are adding five more levels to their cutesy platformer Astro Bot, and the first is out right now. Why didn’t they show these off at yesterday’s State of Play? I have no idea.

The first of the 5 planned levels was actually spotted at PlayStation XP Tournament Final in London, England on January 18 and it’s the very same level that you can go and download today. That level and next four can all be found inside the new Vicious Void Galaxy in Astro Bot.

As the name hints at, these new levels are designed to be a bit more challenging.

PlayStation’s cutest character is back and this time he’s starring in his very own triple-A blockbuster release. Incredibly fun, absolutely beautiful and filled with charm, Astro Bot is in strong contention for Game of the Year.

“Unlike our last update Winter Wonder, which was a walk through the Xmas park, this new update features harder levels to test your jumping skills,” writes Nicolas Doucet, Studio Director at Asobi. “Each level comes with a brand-new Special Bot to rescue and, once that’s done, can be replayed in Time Attack mode with online rankings. To access these, you will need to have completed the main game. So sharpen those skills again and let’s get rescuing.”

But that’s not all, as Doucet wrapped up the post by saying that a PS5 Pro enhanced patch is coming for Astro Bot, promising a “constant best resolution while running at 60 frames per second.”

Astro Bot has been a solid success for PlayStation so far, picking up multiple awards and selling at least 1.5 million copies as of November last year. This is also the second batch of free content the game has received.
