Developer Digital Eclipse and publisher Atari have released a new trailer for the upcoming Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, this time confirming that spin-off titles Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero as well as Mortal Kombat: Special Forces will also be part of the collection. Check out the trailer below.

Along with this, the trailer also highlights the other goodies that will be available in Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, which includes comprehensive timelines of the development of each game, as well as the franchise as a whole. The timelines also feature interviews from the various titles’ developers, as well as creators of the franchise like John Tobias.

Gaming history buffs can also check out things like high-quality scans of classic concept art, and even full 3D models of the arcade machines that many of the Mortal Kombat games were originally developed for.

On the gameplay side of things, the trailer showcases a new training mode that teaches players how to pull off some of the most complicated moves from the classic fighting games, including fatalities for each character across various levels. After this, we get a rundown of other features of the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, including character histories, soundtracks, and online multiplayer, complete with rollback netcode.

Digital Eclipse has previously confirmed some of the other titles that will be available in the collection. The list includes a host of classics and their spin-offs, including Mortal Kombat (1992), Mortal Kombat 2 (1993), Mortal Kombat 3 (1995), Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1995), Mortal Kombat 4 (1997), Mortal Kombat Advance (2001), Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (2002), and Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition (2003).

The collection will also include different versions of the same game to offer a more comprehensive package of classic Mortal Kombat titles. This includes niche titles like the Game Boy Advance version of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, and niche releases like Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.

Earlier this month, the studio and publisher had announced that physical editions of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection are available for pre-order. These physical releases are available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and the Switch 2. While there is a standard edition that just includes the game, details have also been revealed about the Deluxe Edition, as well as a Kollector’s Edition.

The Kollector’s Edition is especially noteworthy. Available for pre-order on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and the two Nintendo platforms, it features goodies like a Premium Kollector’s Box, a hardcover art and lore book, a pin set featuring Sub-Zero and Scorpion, commemorative arcade tokens with an acrylic display stand, and a controller holder in the shape of Goro’s original stop motion figure. It is worth noting that the PC version only comes with a Steam code for the game, while the other versions will come with discs and game carts.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and the Switch 2. The title doesn’t yet have a release date, however. Rumours have indicated that it might come out by the end of September.
