While Helldivers 2 had a rocky couple of weeks thanks to its recent update as well as the fact that developer Arrowhead Game Studios had gone on a vacation, studio CEO Shams Jorjani said that the developers are now back, completely refreshed, and will 100 percent focus on fixing various bugs.

As caught by GamesRadar, Jorjani took to the game’s official Discord server to reveal that, officially, most of the development team working on Helldivers 2 had returned after the weekend. “Most people are back on the 4th (office closure ends),” Jorjani said. “And we’ll be focusing 100% on bug fixing and optimization. Sorry for the inconvenience. We know the game isn’t in tip-top shape right now.” He also admitted that the studio should not have pushed out the update and gone on vacation without fixing the most pressing issues. “We should have left things in a better state with the last update,” he admitted.

Arrowhead Game Studios had announced that it would be going on a two-week-long break back in July. The vacation, according to the studio, is one that Swedish companies tend to offer their employees.

“Helldivers, the team is entering Swedish Summer Protocol: 2 weeks of lakes, fika & tactical sunbathing,” announced the studio on social media back then, while also mentioning that the Galactic War campaign would continue to run. “But fear not—service continues, the Galactic War rages on, and Super Earth still needs you. We’ll be back soon, recharged and ready to drop even harder.”

Jorjani had previously spoken about what kinds of updates would be coming to Helldivers 2. Back in July, when asked about whether the co-op shooter would be getting support for AMD’s FSR and Nvidia’s DLSS technologies, he responded by saying that the developers want to instead focus on fixing core performance issues plaguing the game before adding these new features.

“It’s on the wishlist, there are other more fundamental problems that impact performance that we will focus on before DLSS/FSR but it’s being discussed,” he wrote.

In the meantime, the studio also continues to have strong content plans for Helldivers 2 for as long as the next few years. Talking on the Discord server, community manager Katherine Baskin revealed that she was aware of plans that had been made for the game for the foreseeable future. “I know what’s coming for Helldivers for the next few years,” she said, before noting that these plans could also change. Jorjani, for his part, had reiterated that the studio plans on supporting Helldivers 2 for quite some time, going as far as to say that “HD3 is hopefully many years away.”

“Honestly, I’m very bought into the vision that Micke, Felix, Niklas and Marre (our game directors) and Johan have for the game,” said Jorjani, responding to a question about a potential sequel. “It’s great to be part of the ride. We honestly are focusing on the here and now. HD3 is hopefully many years away.”

Helldivers 2 is available on PC and PS5. It will also be coming to Xbox Series X/S on August 26th with crossplay support.
