The Gears of War Collection has been rumoured to exist for some time now, a remaster/remake of presumably the original trilogy of games. But with Xbox on its way to becoming the biggest publisher in the world rather than a dealer of exclusives, conversation has naturally turned to whether Gears of War will roadie run its way onto PlayStation. Well, according to a leaker, it already has ahead of its release in August.

Before we continue with the details, though, take this with a heavy pinch of salt as no solid proof has been provided.

The news comes way via X user Detective Seeds who claims to have a source with access to the PlayStation backend. Detective Seeds tweeted out: “Gears of War collection should be releasing early to mid August. It is PS5 pro enhanced, but I have been told NO Multiplayer PVP, campaign focus only.”

He then added more details: “For further on Gears of War collection. The game is loaded onto PS storefront on the back end (this is the same with others I have said in the past). It shows 1 player and does not show support for additional players. I asked about co-op, but no clarification on that yet.”

Despite the game being visible on the PlayStation backend the source seemingly hasn’t included any images to back up his or her claims.

Let’s be honest though, at this point the Gears of War Collection (often referred to as the Marcus Fenix Collection) seems likely to be real based on the amount of rumours and reporting surrounding it, and in all likelihood the franchise will make its way to PlayStation along with every other Xbox IP.

Don’t forget that we also have Gears of War: E-Day on the horizon, a prequel to first game that charts the very first time the Locust appear. Surely Microsoft would want to maximise its release by also offering up a way to play the original trilogy in remastered form?
