Why so serious?, the company behind the independent games label WSS playgrund, has announced the establishment of a new game label called Baron du Juvenile. The first two titles under the label, horror adventure games Slay the Alice and Waiting in the Lime Forest, are now available for PC via Steam for $8.99 each.

“With a distinct concept from WSS playground, Baron du Juvenile focuses on immersion to the artist’s creativity and individuality through ‘being a game and playing the game,’” Why so serious? Said in a press release. “This label will be led by the new ‘passionate editor-in-chief,’ separate from the leadership of WSS playground. We invite you to follow the future developments of Baron du Juvenile with great anticipation.”

In a message, Baron du Juvenile “editor-in-chief” Tokumiya Miyamoto said, “Greetings! Every heart and mind contains juvenility. Through play, its beauty is magnified—nurturing this is Baron du Juvenile.”

Here is an overview of the label’s first two games:

    ■ Waiting in the Lime Forest: A Dark Murder Mystery

    About

Waiting in the Lime Forest is a point-and-click adventure that blends small-scale horror and thriller. The story begins with a mysterious message, “Waiting in the Lime Forest,” left at the scene of a murder.

Set in the 1920s in a suburban area of America, the player takes on the role of Edward, a lawyer racing to clear his friend Oliver’s name from a murder charge. This game features a multi-ending system, where key choices affect the outcome, and how you guide Oliver to salvation—or towards his doom—is the key to unlocking the truth.

    Story

Dogs and friendship are the most important in this land, for him.

Oliver is torn between his father’s harsh masculine expectations and his own delicate emotions.

Edward, his senpai, lives a life of stability, with a wife and a dog, and adheres to urban values.

Yet, he cannot abandon his troubled friend, who drowns in self-destructive tendencies.

Writing subpar western novels, while being beaten by his father, clinging to the past and romanticizing his painful memories with a glass of bourbon.

    Please, Love Him.

—Our souls were destined for damnation/

    Characters

    • Oliver – A troubled young man haunted by painful memories and former loves, who becomes lost between reality and fantasy. A charming yet fragile boy in need of support, he stands accused of murder. You must help him rise from the depths!
    • Edward – The player character. Living a stable life with his wife and dog. A person who lives by the motto of standing by their neighbors and rarely succumbs to emotional strain. With his steady and somewhat oblivious disposition, he accompanies others fearlessly into danger. He is frequently stabbed and occasionally makes his wife cry.
    • Max the Golden Retriever – Your loyal dog. While the character has no significant impact on the plot, Max adds a touch of warmth, embodying the heart of a point-and-click adventure.
