Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 Only Has 10 Tracks Returning From the Original Games

Now that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is finally out, players have begun discovering that the soundtrack for the title might feel like a bit of a disappoint if you’ve been a long-time fan of the franchise. As caught by VGC, the soundtrack for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, which includes 64 tracks, only includes 10 songs returning from the original THPS 3 and 4.

For the sake of comparison, this means that 54 of the tracks in the remake’s soundtrack are new songs. The 10 songs that did return happen to be fan favourites, including tracks like 96 Quite Bitter Things by CKY, My Adidas by Run-DMC, and Amoeba by Adolescents. Other fan-favourites, however, like AC/DC’s TNT and Alien Ant Farm’s Wish didn’t make it into the remake.

To make up for this, however, developer Iron Galaxy and publisher Activision have managed to bring in some genre-appropriate new songs to the game by artists like Run The Jewels, 100 Gecs and Idles.

In an Instagram post announcing the soundtrack, Tony Hawk had posted about how the decision to bring in a mix of returning track along with more current music was one he had made. He noted that, through this, he wanted to introduce Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 players to new kinds of music while also giving them a blast of nostalgia from listening to the classics from the original soundtracks.

“It was my choice to pick some different songs by the same artists featured in THPS3+4 OST,” wrote Hawk. “I’m hoping that discovery is half the fun, and a big reason that these soundtracks resonated in the first place. So listen and enjoy the ride. More to come… both old and new.”

Celebrating the launch of the game, Iron Galaxy has also detailed all of the accessibility options and customisation options for game difficulty in a recent post. The studio has confirmed that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 features a comprehensive tutorial that teaches players all the ins and outs of the fast-paced arcade style gameplay, while also giving them ways to modify the game to their liking.

The game also allows players to use the setting to tune difficulty to be harder for them, such as by increasing the gameplay speed all the way up to triple its standard speed, and even making balancing tricks like Manuals and Grinds be more challenging to maintain.

With Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 now out, it is also worth noting that Tony Hawk himself also wants to some day have Tony Hawk’s Underground get remastered. In an interview from back in May, Hawk spoke about his aspirations for the remaster. “I always have aspirations,” Hawk said. “It’s not up to me generally. I’ll campaign all I can, but I’m working with a much bigger company that’s a lot smarter than me.”

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. For more details, here’s everything you need to know about the game.
