With Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds 2 serving as Microsoft’s big Fall release, an appearance at Gamescom would make sense. However, it seems Xbox is going all out with an “exclusive” theater presentation for the sci-fi role-playing game.
The “guided theater experience” will venture into the militaristic Protectorate’s territory to showcase the Tomb of the Matriarch. Described as “an opulent facility where history, loyalty, and propaganda intertwine,” it will showcase a society that “trades freedom for security, and reveres its founders with unsettling devotion.”
The Outer Worlds 2 launches on October 29th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, and will be playable on day one for Game Pass subscribers. It created controversy last June when Microsoft announced a $79.99 price, but the publisher has since backpedalled, opting for a $69.99 tag while confirming the same for its upcoming Holiday titles.
Unfortunately, it won’t be playable at the Xbox booth at Gamescom, but attendees can try out Ninja Gaiden 4, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Grounded 2, Cronos: The New Dawn, and Hollow Knight: Silksong. Stay tuned for more details and updates when Gamescom rolls around on August 20th to 24th.
