Microsoft opted to pull another shadow drop out of its ample backside at today’s Xbox Developer Direct event, revealing that not only has Ninja Gaiden 2 been remastered, but it’s out right now.
Available on Xbox (and on Gamepass), PlayStation and PC, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is a remastered version of the 2008 original.
“In NINJA GAIDEN 2 Black, players assume the role of Ryu Hayabusa, a deadly ninja who wields the legendary Dragon Sword while embarking on a global battle against a series of formidable foes.” says the press release as it casually wipes blood off its sword. “The beautiful and bloody remaster utilizes Unreal Engine 5 to significantly enhance the graphic expression, elevating everything from character visuals to environmental backgrounds. In fact, the stages, characters, effects, and lighting have all been completely redesigned and remastered to fully immerse gamers into the story’s dark ninja world.”
In addition to the obvious graphical upgrade, the remaster includes a raft of new features. For example, dismemberment can now be turned off if you don’t fancy all the gore. There’s also a new “Hero Play Style” that apparently “provides automatic support in the most difficult situations, making the notoriously challenging title more accessible for those who may not be so confident in their action skills.”
There’s also three additional characters to play as: Momiji, Ayane, and Rachel.
You can grab the remaster for £39.99 right now.
