Sony Interactive Entertainment has sent a DMCA to the modder who created a patch to run the game at 60FPS.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Lance McDonald, the modder who created the 60FPS patch said, “On February 21st, 2021, I created and released a patch for Bloodborne which makes the game run at 60fps. Today I received a DMCA takedown notification on behalf of Sony Interactive Entertainment asking that I remove links to the patch I posted on the internet, so I’ve now done so.”

For those interested, Lance also provided a video on how the patch works:

Instantly, the DMCA request, which was for a mod that is nearing its four year anniversary instantly sparked speculation online that of what it could mean. Some fans speculated that it means that Sony could be gearing up to release their own official patch, while others said that it could mean some form of remaster or remake for the games 10th anniversary.

Others however, simply believe that it’s just a giant cooperation doing cooperation things and that it almost certainly means nothing.

Bloodborne first released in March 2015 receiving universal acclaim from critics. By February 2022, the game had sold approximately 7.5 million units, making it a massive commercial success.

What do you think of Sony issuing a DMCA over the Bloodborne 60FPS patch? Do you think it means anything for the future of Bloodborne? Let us know down below, and join more discussions in the official GPlayr forums.
