RoadCraft Gets New Trailer Focusing on Children Playing With Toy Trucks Ahead of May 20 Release

Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have released a new trailer for upcoming sandbox building game RoadCraft. The trailer, which you can check out below, emphasises the childhood experience of playing with toy vehicles based on construction vehicles.

The trailer doesn’t feature any gameplay. Rather, it focuses on the sense of nostalgia one might feel from having played with toys like a small bulldozer as a child. The trailer also shows off a larger bulldozer in action, along with a host of other massive construction equipment. Mimicking the act of picking up large piles of logs and dropping them, the kids also pick up a bundle of straws as part of their sandbox construction process.

Eventually, the camera zooms out to showcase the fact that the childrens’ “construction project” in their sandbox is being mimicked by the larger construction equipment in their own massive project.

RoadCraft revolves around players making use of massive construction equipment to clear out areas that have been ruined by natural disasters. Throughout the course of a project, players will work towards supplying the affected area, and ultimately, helping rebuild it.

According to the studio, RoadCraft will feature “a new generation of simulation” thanks to the use of a new engine developed internally at Saber Interactive. Each object and vehicle will be affected by the physics engine, with the game accounting for their mass and size. Things like wood, sand, and asphalt will also each have different properties because of the physics engine.

As players progress through the game, they will also get to expand on their range of vehicles through the garage. Players will be able to use different vehicles for different purposes, like using a bulldozer to clear out debris, or a heavy transporter to transport heavy materials.

Progressing further into the game, players will also be able to help supply factories and quarries in order to get a continuous supply of resources in bulk. Through this, players will be able to set up larger operations as they help rebuild devastated areas.

RoadCraft is currently in development for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. With a release date of May 20, RoadCraft will also feature support for co-op multiplayer for up to 4 players. Through the multiplayer mode, players will be able to divide up tasks between themselves in order to get through objectives at a quicker pace.
