Sony has unveiled a new special edition DualSense controller, this time around to celebrate the upcoming release of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The controller has been described as being made in close collaboration with Kojima Production, and features quite a few design cues from the upcoming game, including the insignia and motto of the Drawbridge. Check out pictures of the controller below.
The Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Limited Edition DualSense controller will be available directly through PlayStation’s website, with pre-orders going live on May 22. Priced at $84.99, the controller will only be available in limited quantities. It will be launching on the same day as Death Stranding 2 – June 26.
When it comes to design, the limited edition DualSense doesn’t include any new features. However, it does bear a striking visual design, with the trackpad being dominated by the Drawbridge insignia and the motto “Both stick and rope, to protect and connect. Together, for tomorrow.” Both grips also have additional orange details, including a barcode and a host of different numbers that will likely have some relevance in-game.
Aside from these orange details, however, the controller is basically a regular black-coloured DualSense controller, complete with the otherwise muted colours that the controller has been known for. The back of the controller, on the other hand, also features branding for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach got its release June 26 release date through a trailer released during a special panel at SXSW 2025 earlier this year. The trailer featured a host of different parts of the upcoming game stitched together, and introduced a host of new characters, including a new one played by Luca Marinelli.
Kojima elaborated on his decisions to cast Marinelli in the role of new character Neil, including details about how he came to know about the actor thanks to works like Netflix’s The Old Guard. The two were able to finally have a conversation through an online call when Marinelli was working on The Eight Mountains.
“When I told him I was looking for someone to play Lucy, he introduced me to his wife, Alissa, who is also an actress (and filmmaker). We did their scan and performance capture during the height of the pandemic, but their on-set performance was excellent,” said Kojima. “You can see that in the digitized results from even the small bits of the trailer. I can only thank Luca and Alissa for agreeing to perform when we didn’t even have a script yet.”
Kojima Productions has also revealed details about the Deluxe and Collector’s Editions for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the latter of which is priced at $229.99 and features a host of physical goodies, including a Collector’s Box and a 15-inch statue of Magellan Man. It also includes a letter written by Kojima. Interestingly enough, despite all of the physical content in the Collector’s Edition, the game itself will be available through a digital download code.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is being developed exclusively for the PS5.
