Ninja Gaiden 4 is Launching This Autumn – GPlayr

Preceded by the shadow-drop of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, a remaster of the 2008 original, Team Ninja and Platinum Games announced Ninja Gaiden 4 at the Xbox Developer Direct today. This will be the first game in the series in 13 years.

Coming sometime this Autumn, it’s releasing on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, including on Xbox Game Pass.

A direct sequel to 2013’s Ninja Gaiden 3, this new game stars a new lead character named Yakumo in a cyberpunk version of Tokyo. Never fear, though, because series icon Ryu Hayabusa is returning, and will even be playable at certain points.

In fact, the trailer gives me some Devil May Cry 5 vibes with the upcoming demon-slayer (or in this case, ninja) going up against the OG before inevitably teaming up to kick ass.

“Fans have long been asking us for a new Ninja Gaiden game,” Team Ninja head honcho Fumihiko Yasuda said. “Koei Tecmo’s president, Hisashi Koinuma, and PlatinumGames’ CEO, Atsushi Inaba, share a close relationship, which led us to explore a collaborative development effort.”

“PlatinumGames had the expertise we felt was ideal for working on Ninja Gaiden,” Yasuda continued, “and with support from Microsoft’s Phil-san, the three companies were able to take the next step towards creating a brand-new Ninja Gaiden.”

2025 has been dubbed “The Year of the Ninja” by Team Ninja as it marks the team’s 30th anniversary.

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound was announced last year, and is also due out in 2025.
