    ■ Battle Styles

Push Combat to the Extreme with Two Battle Styles

In addition to his signature Mad Dog style, which is all about speed, Majima can also use his Sea Dog style to wield a cutlass and other buccaneer gear. Pick the style that works for you—kick, pummel, and slash your way through the filthy bilge rats who stand in your way!

    ■ Fighting Styles

    Mad Dog

The fighting style that earned the Mad Dog of Shimano his fearsome moniker in the criminal underworld. Majima blends together a combination of punches, kicks, and knife strokes to make quick work of his enemies. He can also launch his victims into the air and unleash flashy mid-air combos!

    —Combos

Unleash a flurry of punches, kicks, and blade attacks on your foes! Follow up with flashy finishing blows and aerial combos!

    —Heat Actions

These devastating attacks can be performed under certain conditions, such as when Majima is armed with an impromptu weapon or making use of his surroundings.

    —Madness Gauge

While battling in the Mad Dog style, use the Madness Gauge to summon doppelgangers! These apparitions will fight by Majima’s side and can be used to dish out insane combination attacks.

    Sea Dog

The fighting style that earned the Mad Dog of Shimano his fearsome moniker in the criminal underworld. Majima blends together a combination of punches, kicks, and knife strokes to make quick work of his enemies. He can also launch his victims into the air and unleash flashy mid-air combos!

    —Combos

The Sea Dog style allows Majima to quickly lay waste to his foes using his cutlasses. He can also unlock triple finishers that utilize all three of his sidearms.

    —Heat Actions

Majima’s Heat Actions make use of his cutlasses and sidearms. Embrace the pirate life and unleash waves of nautical nonsense upon your foes!

    —Madness Gauge

Using the Madness Gauge, Majima can summon dark deities capable of turning the tides of battle. Conjuring them requires treasures known as Dark Instruments, which you’ll need to plunder from the ships of defeated rival pirate crews.

    ■ Sidearms and Dark Instruments

Collect sidearms and Dark Instruments to tap into the Sea Dog style’s full potential!

    Sidearms

Three unique weapons that can be unlocked as you progress through the story.

Cutlass boomerang enables Majima to throw his cutlasses and damage enemies at a distance. His pistol can also be charged to deal extra damage. Lastly, he can latch on to enemies using his chain hook and zip towards them.

    —Pistol

    —Chain Hook

    Dark Instruments

    —Dark God of the Waves

Playing Majima’s cursed violin summons man-eating sharks to the battlefield! These beasts will emerge from the ground, dealing heavy damage to enemies within range of their jaws. Furthermore, the more enemies there are, the greater the number of sharks that will appear!

    —Dark God of the Earth

Playing Majima’s cursed guitar calls upon a ferocious ape that inflicts massive damage on enemies. The deity makes up for its limited range with its sheer destructive force.

    —Dark God of the Skies

Playing a tune on Majima’s cursed sax conjures an avian ally capable of conjuring up powerful winds! Enemies caught within its tornadoes will be blown into the air and suffer continuous damage.

    —Dark God of the Deep

Blowing into Majima’s cursed ocarina beckons a terrifying jellyfish to emerge from the briny deep! This creature will heal Majima and his allies, as well as shock and immobilize nearby enemies.

    ■ Pirate Battles

Lead the Goro Pirates to battle on the high seas and etch your crew’s name into the annals of pirate history!

Captain the Goromaru as you explore the vast ocean! During your voyages, you’ll discover lighthouses, treasure islands, and various other locations. However, don’t forget to ready your cannons, as you may have to go to battle with the dangerous marauders that lurk in wait!

Maneuver around enemy bombardments and send volleys of cannonballs into their ship’s hull! Once it has taken enough damage, board their ship with your crew and brawl it out to secure victory!

You can also enter the Pirates’ Coliseum and face off against rival crews to earn fame and fortune beyond your wildest dreams!

To really kick arrrss in naval battles, you’ll need to modify your ship, strategically deploy your forces, and power up your crew! Meet over 100 recruitable seafarers, and modify your ship with options that range from different designs and decorations to armor and stronger cannons! Improve your ship and crew, scuttle some enemy vessels, and become a pirate of legend!

    Cannon Battles

When fighting enemies at sea, it’s either sink or be sunk. Captain your ship as Majima—who can also make repairs or fire his rocket launcher at unsuspecting foes. Steer the Goromaru away from enemy fire, and bombard them with cannon volleys! Customizing the Goromaru is also key to victory! You can reinforce your ship’s deck or swap out the cannons for flamethrowers and lasers.

    Deck Battles

Once you’ve weakened the enemy’s vessel, it’s time to storm their ship!

Seize the opposing ship by engaging in an all-out brawl. To claim victory, you’ll need to rely on Majima’s abilities and the crewmates you bring to battle. Each crewmate brings different skills to the table—some focus more on offense, while others offer more healing capabilities. With plenty of potential allies to recruit around Hawaii and Madlantis, you’ll need to assemble your very own crew of misifts and raise them into legendary pirates!

    The Pirates’ Coliseum

The Pirates’ Coliseum in Madlantis is an arena like no other. Here, you’ll engage in naval battles with a variety of different rules: from one-on-one matches to chaotic free-for-alls against nine other crews! You’ll also encounter a variety of colorful opponents unique to the Pirates’ Coliseum, including a shady scientist, a pyromaniac, and even a sumo wrestler! All sorts of challenges await you, the Goromaru, and your trusty crew.
