Kirby Air Riders, a follow-up to the beloved GameCube racing title, received tons of new information in a new Nintendo Direct hosted by director Masahiro Sakurai. It also confirmed a release date of November 20th for Nintendo Switch 2, with the ending teasing the involvement of Dark Matter in some shape or form.
Similar to its predecessor, Kirby Air Riders is a racing game where up to six Riders compete in a single race. Unlike the first game, there are way more Riders to choose from, each with unique traits. Kirby is well-balanced, while King Dedede is a heavyweight who attacks with his hammer. Meanwhile, Chef Kawasaki can net additional food items, and Banana Waddle Dee builds Boost Charge more quickly.
Other confirmed characters include Cappy, Magolor, Gooey, Waddle Doo, Knuckle Joe and Susie. While you’re free to select any Machine with any Rider, their weight can impact performance. For instance, Kirby will have better boost and turn faster on one Machine, but Dedede gains more durability and attack power. Stay tuned for more details on Kirby Air Riders, including its mechanics, shortly.
