Rockstar Games has announced that Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch on May 26th, 2026, skipping the initial 2025 release calendar.
The developer apologized for the delay and thanked fans for their excitement, which has been “truly humbling for the entire team.” It also noted that it tries to “exceed your expectations” with every new game and that extra time is needed to “deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.” As for when fans can look forward to more information, it’s expecting to share more “soon.”
Grand Theft Auto 6 was officially revealed in December 2023, with the first trailer garnering nearly 252 million views. However, updates have been lackluster ever since. Take-Two Interactive assured fans of the announced Fall 2025 window, though CEO Strauss Zelnick said there’s “always the risk” of slippage earlier this year.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is in development for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 (with a PC version yet to be confirmed). A new report from Insider Gaming will seemingly shed light on its multiplayer component in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for more details.
