Square Enix has seemingly kicked off the English voice recording for the third part of its Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. As caught by ResetEra user Chaserjoey, voice actor Cody Christian, who voices protagonist Cloud Strife in the trilogy, had made a social media post hinting that he was back to working on the role.

The post, which can be checked out on Christian’s Instagram page, shows the voice actor in a recording booth, along with the text “so happy to be back with my bestie.” The post also includes a small, stylised picture of Cloud Strife.

It is worth noting that Square Enix hasn’t made any official announcement regarding the matter. However, the company does tend to stay relatively quiet about its bigger franchises aside from releasing trailers when they have announcements to make.

The fact that voice acting work on the third game in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy has already begun would indicate that the title is pretty far along in terms of development. Typically, in the development of a AAA game, the voice acting often tends to be one of the last things to be taken care of.

This is because, during the course of game development, things can change, and a story getting changed up after voice acting work had already been started would end up quite expensive to fix, since scenes would have to be redone.

The third part of the trilogy is slated to pick things up right where Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth left off. The game, released back in 2024, left players with quite a few questions with regards to where its story is going to go, and how the newer elements introduced in Final Fantasy 7 Remake will fit in.

Rebirth itself was released on PC earlier this year, after spending around a year as being available exclusively on the PS5. The title was released to critical acclaim, and the game got a considerable boost in sales figures.
