Suspense visual novel DUSK INDEX: GION will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC via Steam on January 29, 2026 worldwide, publisher Bushiroad Games and Tokyo Dark developer Cherrymochi announced. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions are newly announced. The game will support English and Japanese language options.

In Japan, the game will be priced at 3,520 yen. A physical edition will also be available for Switch.

Here is an overview of the game, via its official website:

    About

A new visual novel game co-created by Cherrymochi of Tokyo Dark!

The stage is set. Two Kyotos, past and present.

Here, a story revolving around bizarre murder cases unfolds across both timelines.

In modern-day Kyoto, detective Daiki Katsuki, who believes in traditional investigative methods, teams up with the reclusive genius engineer Rio Quinn, developer of “Echoes of Kyoto,” to investigate the case.

Meanwhile, in Meiji-era Kyoto, a passionate young detective, Masayoshi Nagahama, and Saki, atop geisha of the entertainment district, join forces to uncover the “origin” of the events that continues into the present.

Two eras. Two investigative pairs. One truth.

Experience a deep, suspenseful drama that transcends time.

    Story

Can the past rewrite the future?

The Meiji era, a turbulent age. A series of murders shook Kyoto. Mysterious patterns drawn in the victim’s blood. The case went unsolved, casting a long shadow over history. A hundred years later in Kyoto, Detective Daiki Katsuki was investigating a brutal murder case. The case bore a striking resemblance to the one that had shaken Meiji-era Kyoto. The key to the investigation lay in the immersive AR experience ‘Echoes of Kyoto.’ The developer was the brilliant young engineer Quin Rio. The two entered the recreated Kyoto of 100 years ago to solve the case.

“Echoes of Kyoto.” Through state-of-the-art AR contact lenses, this augmented reality experience transports people into a breathtaking recreation of the Kyoto of 100 years ago. The reconstructed city captivated many people with its nostalgia. However, as the truth behind the incident draws near, ‘Echoes of Kyoto’ begins to transcend mere history. The boundary between recreation and reality begins to blur, and a question emerges…

Is this the work of a copycat killer? Or is the past truly invading the future?

A future held hostage by the past. A past bound to the future.

When past and future intersect, the world begins to tremble.
