While Control 2 is a ways off, entering full production in 2025, the first title in the series will receive a new update. As announced at the Remedy’s Capital Markets Day, it will go live in early 2025 and unlock “previously released content.”
The content’s nature is unknown, but it could tie into the aftermath of Alan Wake 2: The Lake House. One player reported an essential character (spoilers if you haven’t played Control, so beware) suddenly going missing. Perhaps this will tie into the upcoming update, though whether there’s any significant new gameplay or even another teaser for the sequel remains to be seen.
Control is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC. You can read our review here. It’s sold over 4.5 million units since launching in 2019. As for Control 2, it will launch for current-gen platforms and PC. A release date has yet to be announced, but Remedy confirmed it will be an action RPG.
