Animated horror game Bye Sweet Carole will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC via Steam on October 9 for $24.99 / €24.99, publisher Maximum Entertainment and developer Little Sewing Machine announced.

A $39.99 / €39.99 physical edition will also be available for PlayStation 5 and Switch, which includes a reversible coversheet, digital soundtrack, and digital art book.

Here is an overview of the game, via Just For Games:

    About

Step into a hand-drawn nightmare inspired by classic animation.

Bye Sweet Carole is a chilling narrative-horror game, inspired by the charm of classic animated films.

Set in early 1900s England amidst the backdrop of the women’s suffrage movement, players follow Lana Benton as she unravels the mystery surrounding her missing friend, Carole Simmons, and the sinister secrets buried within Bunny Hall.

Combining rich atmosphere, intelligent puzzle design, and cinematic sequences, Bye Sweet Carole invites players into a dark, emotionally charged tale that’s as enchanting as it is unsettling.

With fully hand-drawn animations and a focus on exploration over action, the game offers a uniquely accessible experience ideal for story-focused players and fans of titles like Inside, Clock Tower, or Little Nightmares.

    Key Features

    • Dark Fairy Tale Adventure – Embark on a chilling journey through the austere Bunny Hall orphanage and the mesmerizing world of Corolla, uncovering the dark truth behind Carole Simmons’ disappearance.
    • Hand-Drawn Cinematic Visuals – Immerse yourself in a universe brought to life with hand-drawn frames, utilizing cinematographic techniques inspired by classic animated movies.
    • Shape-Shift Mechanics – Transform into a rabbit to navigate deadly challenges, interact with other rabbits, and escape tricky situations. Be cautious, as this form renders Lana more vulnerable.
    • Rich Cast of Characters – Encounter colorful characters, including the malevolent owl Velenia and the terrifying Mr. Kyn, as you delve deeper into the rabbit hole.
    • Genre-Blending Gameplay – Experience a unique fusion of traditional animated fairy tales and survival horror, combining classic platforming elements with a haunting narrative.

How to Play: Tips and Tricks

The game is fully controller-friendly, allowing free exploration in all directions, though moving right is often the intended path to progress.

Death is never punishing, each game over screen allows you to retry just moments before, with many invisible check points to avoid frustration and ensure a smooth progression.

Take your time and explore: clues are often embedded in the background.

Enjoy the atmosphere. Bye Sweet Carole is as much about mood and tone as it is about mechanics.
