Bungie’s Marathon Getting Full Gameplay Reveal On April 12 – GPlayr

After nearly 2 years, Bungie is finally going to lift the lid on Marathon, providing us with a full gameplay reveal on April 12.

The news comes by way of an ARG (Augmented Reality Game) that Bungie has been running. By following the clues and coming together, the community unlocked a new “save the date” trailer which gives us a brief glimpse of the incredibly colourful world of Marathon, Bungie’s upcoming multiplayer game and revival of their old IP.

There’s some pressure on Marathon, Bungie and PlayStation. Bungie’s reputation has taken a lot of hits, especially over the last few years, and Sony’s forays into live-service has resulted in most of them being cancelled, one being a total disaster and one success story.

It also seems some media outlets were invited out to Bungie to get some hands on time with the game.

The trailer obviously doesn’t show us too much, but we do see a wounded character collapsing before being approached by an odd, pink creature that has some feline qualities. Notably, the character seems to be playing possum, though, because you can see them subtly reach out and pull their gun a little closer as the feline curls up next to them. The creature’s eyes also appear to be slightly pixelated, suggesting its not natural. Perhaps some sort of player companion? The trailer ends with a flash of light in the distance, and a date appearing on the screen.
