Bend Studio has not been having a particularly good time lately. Since 2012 they’ve only released one game (Days Gone, 2019) and then news broke earlier this week that a live-service title it was developing was cancelled by Sony. Given Bend is a smaller studio, there’s a strong possibility the cancelled title was their sole project, meaning a new triple-A title from them would likely not appear until 2028 or onwards.
The biggest fear was the cancellation could lead to the closure of Bend Studio, along with Bluepoint, the other studio whose live-service God of War project was also canned by Sony. However, it seems like Bend Studio is fairly optimistic that it isn’t going anywhere.
Speaking on Twitter, Bend Studio’s community manager Kevin McAllister (No, not the Home Alone one) put out a quick message thanking fans for their support before promising that “We still plan on creating cool shit.”
I’ll keep this short.
Thanks for the love and support everyone, especially to those that have reached out. ❤️
P.S. We still plan on creating cool shit.

Underneath the tweet was plenty more well-wishing from fans, along with a lot of requests for a sequel to Days Gone.
Bend pitched a Days Gone 2, but reporting at the time suggested Sony turned it down due to the mixed critical reception of Days Gone and its lengthy development time.
With that said, rumours have been swirling for a while now that a Days Gone remaster is being worked on, though whether its by Bend Studio or someone else is unknown.
Personally, I’d love a sequel to be made. The game was, in my estimation, heavily underrated by many critics, and the sales numbers are rumoured to actually be quite strong. If Bend could convince Sony that the development time would not be so excessive, then it could bring in solid cash.
