Battlefield 6 Officially Confirmed (Even Though We All Knew About It Already) – GPlayr

After a year of teases, leaks and alpha tests, EA has officially confirmed that the worst-kept secret in gaming will be getting its first trailer on July 24. And yes, it will be called Battlefield 6, which works out nicely because that’s what everyone has been calling it, anyway.

The release window is set for EA’s fiscal year 2026 — meaning it could drop any time between April 2025 and March 2026. Most insiders are pointing toward a Fall 2025 launch, keeping in line with the series’ usual release window. This new entry marks a return to modern-day warfare, stepping away from the near-future setting of Battlefield 2042, and bringing back the gritty, boots-on-the-ground combat fans have been missing.

DICE is leading development alongside Ripple Effect, Motive, and Criterion as part of the newly formed Battlefield Studios. The campaign is rumoured to centre on a massive private military company, with locations like Gibraltar and urban combat zones packed with environmental destruction — think Battlefield 3 and 4. Gone are the unpopular Specialists and 128-player chaos; in their place is the classic four-class system and a more focused, tactical gameplay loop. A hybrid loadout system will let players choose between class-locked weapons or an open setup.

Gunplay and movement have also been overhauled, with snappier controls, refined recoil, and returning features like crouch sprinting and combat diving. Combined arms warfare is back too, featuring tanks, helicopters, and heavy weapons, all enhanced by a promised 60Hz server tick rate for smoother, more accurate firefights.

There’s even some rumours about a possible standalone, free battle royale mode.
