Silver Star Japan has announced the launch of the Rabi x Laby “final chapter production project,” a project to conclude the unfinished story of the Rabi x Laby series in the form of a novel written by Etrange Overlord writer Roman Kitayama. A CAMPFIRE campaign will run from September 10 to October 24.
The novelization will dive deeper into the stories of the previous games, as well as bring the story to an end via the final chapter. A remake with additional stages, as well as a brand-new game based on the final chapter, will be produced if the campaign reaches certain stretch goals.
The Rabi x Laby story has been told over the past 15 years via the games Rabi x Laby, Rabi x Laby Episode 2, Rabi x Laby Episode 3, and Rabi x Laby Gaiden: Witch’s Cat. A collection including all four games, Rabi x Laby: Puzzle Out Stories, launched for PlayStation 4 and Switch on May 24, 2018 in Japan.
Here is the full list of campaign goals:
- One million yen (base goal, approx. $6,720 USD) – Novelization of the first four games.
- 1.5 million yen (approx. $10,080 USD) – Novelization of the new final chapter.
- Two million yen (approx. $13,445 USD) – A remake with additional stages will be produced.
- Three million yen (approx. $20,167 USD) – The remake will implement story parts from the novelization.
- Four million yen (approx. $26,877 USD) – Adds full voice-overs.
- Six million yen (approx. $40,316 USD) – Adds a voice drama.
- 10 million yen (approx. $67,193 USD) – Adds a stage editor to freely create stages.
Silver Star Japan will also attend Tokyo Game Show 2025, which will run from September 25 to 28 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, where the main visual for the final chapter production project will be on display, and previous Rabi x Laby games and Ginsei Shogi 10 will be playable.
