Capcom has released a new trailer for its highly-anticipated survival horror title Resident Evil Requiem. The trailer, which you can check out below, was showcased during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event, and gives us a better idea of what we can expect from the upcoming title’s story.
The trailer largely revolves around protagonist Grace Ashcroft’s backstory, and how the events that transpired in her past have shaped the story of the larger world of Resident Evil. The trailer also features an appearance by Grace’s mother and former Resident Evil protagonist from the co-op Outbreak games Alyssa Ashcroft.
While things start off seemingly normally, with Grace working on her laptop, a mysterious phone call, along with the lights going off quickly pushes things into high gear. Parts of the trailer also confirm that Resident Evil Requiem will return to the first-person perspective of its two predecessors.
While the gameplay largely revolves around Grace and Alyssa trying to escape from the building, things quickly take a turn when another resident of the building is brutally killed by a strange-looking assailant. We also get a better understanding of Grace as a character owing to her reactions to the strange things happening around her, all while Alyssa is trying to help her daughter cope while also putting on a brave face and alluding to events that she has experienced in the past herself. The trailer then caps off with the seeming murder of Alyssa.
Resident Evil Requiem is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on February 27, 2026. Check out details about how Capcom has described Grace as the new main character of Resident Evil.
