Resident Evil Requiem Will Receive an “Exclusive New Look” at Gamescom Opening Night Live

Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem is playable for those lucky enough to attend Gamescom from August 20th to 24th. For those at home, however, it will receive an “exclusive new look” at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 19th.

What it could be is anyone’s guess, but just weeks after the announcement trailer at Summer Games Fest, it crossed one million wishlists. Pricing hasn’t been announced, though judging from the recent Monster Hunter Wilds, $69.99 is looking very likely.

Resident Evil Requiem launches on February 27th, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Unfolding several years after the events of Resident Evil Village, it follows Grace Ashcroft as she investigates a string of murders, which inevitably leads to a battle for survival against a mysterious monster.

While previous titles have opted for a singular perspective, Resident Evil Requiem is the first to offer a choice between first and third-person. This is more than a cosmetic change, however, as producer Masato Kumazawa described it as “developing two separate games.”

Early versions attempted to include online and open-world elements early in development, but Capcom ultimately pivoted since “it wasn’t what fans wanted.” Check out our feature for more details.
