Saber Interactive Seems To Be Teasing A Hellraiser Game – Mad Head Games Likely Developing – GPlayr

Saber Interactive looks like it will once again be stepping into the horror genre as a new teaser heavily implies a Hellraiser game will be announced on July 22.

The company posted a teaser video which shows an old CRT TV surrounded by candles in the middle of a room. The footage is grainy and often interrupted by raster lines. In the background, chains can be heard rattling, someone is screaming in pain and there’s a bell that sounds suspiciously like the one heard when Hellraiser’s iconic Pinhead is summoned.

They also posted a link to a website titled www.july-22-2025.com which displays a time: 01:00 UTC.

On the website, there’s also another strong hint toward Hellraiser when a brick wall with the street sign “55” briefly appears. That’s the number of Cotton House from the original Hellraiser movie, the same location in which the Lament Configuration was solved and Pinhead was summoned in all of his BDSM glory.

There’s also the fact that the rights to Hellraiser were also pulled from Dead By Daylight in April, meaning Pinhead can no longer be purchased as a playable character. While there would technically be nothing stopping Hellraiser appearing in DBD and being the focus of a whole other game, it’s possible the contract with DBD ended and the rights holder chose not to renew so that all eyes could be on the new Hellraiser game.

The reception to the tease so far has been somewhat mixed, mostly because of Saber Interactive’s history with other horror titles. Plenty of people on social media have already posted their hope that this isn’t going to be another multiplayer horror title, and point to Saber Interactive “abandoning” Evil Dead: The Game after 6-months.

However, some of the online backlash is misplaced as fans seem to be accusing Saber of causing Pinhead to be removed from Dead By Daylight. Saber Interactive, of course, don’t own the Hellraiser license and have no control over who gets to use the rights. Currently, Clive Barker holds the rights to the original movie and characters. Outside of that, the rights to the franchise are more complicated.

We do also know a strong contender for the developers. Mad Head Games is a Serbian developer under Saber Interactive, and in 2023, Power-Up interviewer Tahlia Norrish spoke to Associate Game Director Marija Milivojevic. In the closing statement, the interview said that “Mad Head Games is already in the works on their second title, based on a famous horror film IP.”

Since then, several job listings have also confirmed the company is working on at least 2 projects based on existing IP.

To my mind, that’s strong evidence that Mad Head Games is working on Hellraiser. But it goes without saying that this is just speculation on my part. Saber Interactive has a lot of teams that could be handling the project, and we will know for sure on July 22.
