The Switch 2 is Nintendo’s best-selling console to date, according to the company. This was presumably said while sitting atop a large pile of gold and Mario hats.
Nintendo revealed that their new console has managed to sell an impressive 3.5 million units in just four days. By this point, it’s probably already past 4 million or maybe even 5 million.
For comparison, the PS5 managed to achieve 4.5 million units sold, except it took an entire financial quarter for that to happen. Mind you, the PS5 was also heavily supply constrained due to Covid and its vendetta against gaming. Well, that and its vendetta against humans in general, I suppose, but that’s less important.
Microsoft has never revealed any solid data on the Xbox Series launch, so we can’t compare against that.
Nintendo is forecasting 15 million Switch 2’s will be sold by the end of the financial year, which is March 2026. That would equal the PS5’s first year on the market, but considering the early pace of the Switch 2 there’s every chance it will blast past Nintendo’s goal and keep on going.
