Ah, the ultra-violent champion of my childhood is returning! The Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection brings together 9 classic Mortal Kombat titles into one super-package.
Digital Eclipse revealed the new kollection during State of Play, announcing that it will be available for PS4 and PS5 later this year. It’ll also be releasing on Xbox, PC and Switch.
Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 are all here in their awesomeness, but they are then joined by handheld versions and home versions.
Oh, and they can be played online with rollback netcode.
The announced MK titles so far are:
Mortal Kombat – 1992: Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Gear
Mortal Kombat II -1993: Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, 32X
Mortal Kombat 3 – 1995: Arcade, SNES, Genesis
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 – 1995: Arcade, SNES
Mortal Kombat 4 – 1997: Arcade
Mortal Kombat Advance – 2001: Game Boy Advance
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance – 2002: Game Boy Advance
Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition – 2003: Game Boy Advance
More are already being teased.
And like their past releases such as Tetris Forever and Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration, the package will include an interactive documentary providing behind-the-scenes information on the games, including interviews with franchise co-creators Ed Boon and John Tobias.
You’ll also get access to all of the secrets and hidden codes straight out of the box without having to memorise it all. Although I’m actually fairly sure I still have some of that stuff written down.
