Boxing magazine The Ring has partnered with Japanese studio Dimps, led by game designer Takashi Nishiyama, to develop a new boxing game featuring original characters, the companies announced.

Development on the project has not yet begun, but will commence “soon” with the intention of introducing “a host of exciting new characters.”

Nishiyama is best known as the director of the original Street Fighter and Fatal Fury: King of Fighters, as well as the game designer on Moon Patrol and Kung-Fu Master. After working at Capcom, SNK, and irem, he established Dimps on March 6, 2000.

Since its establishment, Dimps has worked on a number of titles including the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai series, Sonic Advance series, Street Fighter IV, Street Fighter V, the Dragon Ball: Xenoverse series, and many more.
