Following a new gameplay trailer and release window for FBC: Firebreak, Remedy Entertainment has provided more details about the core gameplay. Game director Mike Kayatta explains that players take on different Jobs set in various locations through The Oldest House.
Paper Chase in the Executive Sector involves destroying sticky notes (and going up against Sticky Ricky). However, another Job involves transporting mannequin ski instructors to a paranatural ski lift.
Players can select Crisis Kits – three saved loadouts with different tools, like the Crank-Operated Fluidic Ejector for slowing enemies and cleaning allies. Meanwhile, the Electro-Kinetic Charge Impactor is like Unreal Tournament’s Impact Hammer but with electric damage. The Big Wrench can whack enemies, but it also builds turrets.
Before each Job, you can adjust the Threat and Clearance Levels. While the former is all about the combat challenge, the latter focuses more on encounter complexity and length. Kayatta notes that both deal with “a few other cool things” that the team will discuss more in the future.
FBC: Firebreak launches in Summer 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It will also be available for PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium and Game Pass.
