AMD Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT Are Hitting Stores on March 6, Priced at $549 and $599

AMD has revealed more details about its new generation of graphics cards: the Radeon RX 9070 and the Radeon RX 9070 XT. During an event, the company has revealed that the new GPUs will be hitting store shelves on March 6, and will be priced at $549 for the RX 9070, and $599 for the RX 9070 XT, solidly targeting the mid-range market.

According to AMD’s pricing strategy, both graphics cards will be competing with Nvidia’s current mid-range offerings: the GeForce RTX 5070, and the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. The company has described its new GPUs as allowing “4K gaming at a 1440p price.”

The new graphics cards, referred to by AMD as falling under its Radeon RX 9000 line, have been built using its new RDNA 4 architecture. The company claims that this will allow the new GPUs to get up to 40 percent higher gaming performance when compared to RDNA 3-based GPUs.

The AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT will feature 64 compute units, with a game clock of 2.4 GHz and a boost clock of up to 3 GHz, and will have a power draw of around 304 W. The RX 9070 XT, on the other hand, will have 56 compute units, a game clock of 2.1 GHz, and a boost clock of up to 2.5 GHz, and will have a power draw of around 220 W. Both GPUs will feature 16 GB of GDDR6 VRAM, and will run on a 256-bit memory interface.

Alongside the new GPUs, AMD will also be launching the next generation of its FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR)technology, helpfully titled FSR 4. The technology will make use of machine learning-powered upscaling technology for higher frame rates, and will be supported by more than 30 games at launch.

“Today, we’re thrilled to unveil the AMD Radeon RX 9000 series, a significant leap forward in graphics performance powered by our next-generation AMD RDNA 4 architecture,” said CVP and general manager of AMD’s Ryzen CPU and Radeon Graphics divisions David McAfee. “These GPUs are designed to meet the demands of today’s games, delivering enthusiast-class gaming experiences to gamers everywhere, while ready to support tomorrow’s innovations.”

“Through the power of advanced AI and Raytracing accelerators, we’re not just improving frame rates – we’re fundamentally enhancing the gaming experience. Offering incredible performance, AI-powered features, and next-gen display support at competitive price points, the Radeon RX 9000 Series delivers exceptional value for gamers looking to upgrade their systems.”

AMD had originally unveiled the GPUs during CES 2025 back in January. Alongside the Radeon RX 9070 and its XT equivalent, the company had also announced the Radeon RX 9060 and RX 9060 XT. As their names might suggest, the two GPUs are meant to target the lower-mid range market, and will likely be used for 1080p gaming. AMD hasn’t yet revealed details on these two GPUs. However, we do know that both of them will feature 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM.

The new graphics cards by AMD will be directly competing with Nvidia’s new GeForce RTX 5000-series of GPUs. Despite much anticipation, the Nvidia GPUs have seen quite a few issues at launch, including lack of stocks at retailers.
